OMONIA TRANS Corporate Social Responsibility

One of the main issues concerning OMONIA TRANS is its share of Corporate Social Responsibility1, as well as the ways in which the company will further increase its offer to the wider community and the environment.

Environmental Consciousness

At OMONIA TRANS, we operate with specific and clear practices which protect the environment:
  • We follow a clothing and packaging recycling system.
  • We have implemented a system for recording and evaluating emissions for environmental reasons.
  • We hold the ISO 9001, ISO 14001and ISO 39001 certifications.

Improvement of the Environment

At OMONIA TRANS, we believe that each one of us individually, and all together as a corporate whole, a group with common goals and philosophy, have the power to contribute to improving the environment. Within this framework, we have planned and set up a wide project of corporate environmental awareness as well as activities.

Action Plan

Our company is the first in its field, to implement an ambitious action plan for the use of less harmful fuel to the atmosphere (AD BLUE, bio-diesel).

In addition we are the first company in the transport sector in Greece, which uses hybrid electric trucks for deliveries within cities.

Finally, we are able to gather information and send statistics to our clients regarding the total amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere from the transported goods.

Certification ISO 39001

But we don’t stop here! OMONIA TRANS, always taking seriously its role in social responsibility, recently received the ISO 39001certification, which apart from the safety and responsible management of its corporate fleet, also protects the environment through best practice routes and better vehicle maintenance. Finally under the ISO 39001 certification, control mechanisms have been developed to check our suppliers and carriers for the quality of the services they offer to us.

1Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), according to the “Green Paper” of the European Union is: “the concept whereby companies integrate voluntary social and environmental concerns in their business operations and in their interaction with their stakeholders, and understand that responsible behavior leads to sustainable business success.” (Source: Greek Network for Corporate Social Responsibility).
